(More customer reviews)I have both dry and sensitive skin, particularly in the winter, and I am SO thankful to have The Body Shop's Coconut Butter on hand to keep my skin feeling and looking like I want it to. The first thing you'd notice about this Coconut Butter is that is smells great. Of course, smell is subjective, so I guess that if you don't like coconut, you wouldn't think it smells great. To me, it smells like a tropical paradise, with coconuts and cocoa and a faint whiff of maybe mango and banana. Particularly in the cold gray winters I'm used to, the scent of this butter is transformative by itself. The second thing you'll notice is the thick, creamy texture of the butter. I can't really understate this either - I know you've probably used body butters before and thought, "Oh, compared to lotion this is really rich and creamy!" Compared to other body butters, this Coconut Body Butter is *really* thick and creamy - impressively so.
Aside from smelling great and protecting and nourishing your skin, this butter also lets you feel really happy and conscientious while using it, since The Body Shop uses organic Fair Trade products as their ingredients. The shea butter, the cocoa butter and the coconut oil are all sourced from Community Trade Co-ops; The Body Shop website has more specifics than I do. I mentioned in a different review for one of their body butters that I really like the packaging too, which is a wide mouthed shallow container. The lids fit snugly but still open easily if you've already got lotion on your hands, and you'll be able to get to every last bit of your butter thanks to the simple design.
Overall, I highly recommend The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter. It's excellent for dry skin, soft on sensitive skin and even enjoyable for "normal" skin as a nighttime ultra-moisturizer. The scent could easily be considered unisex, and thanks to its richness a single tub can last a long time. Consider it as a gift option too; like another reviewer noted, it's always well-received.
