Zico Coconut Water Natural Flavor -- 14 fl oz Review

Zico Coconut Water Natural Flavor -- 14 fl oz
Average Reviews:

This is one of the most original taste of Coconut Water I have found. The fact that they added additional nutrients and vitamins and electrolytes in it makes it even better than Gatorade. With the natural sugar of Coconut Water it doesnt get much better tasting than this.
I like the other flavored ones too. The mango and the orange passion is awesome. Just lightly tasting fruits.
DO NOT DRINK THIS THING HOT. I kept it in the fridge overnight and had some the next day. WOW!!!!
I bought the 11 case's and got 1 for FREE :D. Used them all in my party with cocktails. It was perfect with Grey Goose Vodka. Made a Coconut Martini, everyone loved it.

O.N.E. Natural Experience Water, Gift of Life, 16.9-Ounce Aseptic Containers (Pack of 18)
Average Reviews:

I have been a devoted drinker of Liquid Salvation's She Devil water. Because the price has increased, I began looking for other alternatives. This water, by O.N.E., seemed to fit the bill. I liked the packaging better (in the sense of its crushability, more sustainable, etc) and the price was lower, so I went for it.
I was very disappointed. I would probably give the water two stars and the packaging four. A huge test for me is how the water tastes at room temperature. I have since found that O.N.E. Water has a papery, filmy taste both at room temperature and chilled. I have a personal fridge next to my bed so I can keep water cold to take meds at night and to grab a drink when I need it. I could barely glug this down and winced the entire time.
It looks like I am going to have to pay the higher price for my preferred water. I will not purchase this again. I will use it, and I think it will be suitable for cooking and perhaps mixing with drink mixes or powders, but its taste is one I can't stomach. I would drink Aquafina or Dasani over this, any day.

I have liked coconut water for years now and was happy to find this new product at Rainbow Grocery. The powdered concentrate is great for carrying around and adding to the water bottle. The amount of potassium in each packet is what impressed me, and it does seem to give
a kick of energy. Overall, I'm happy with this product and since it's new, I hope they keep stocking it.

Amy & Brian Coconut Juice with Pulp, 17.5-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12) Review

Amy and Brian Coconut Juice with Pulp, 17.5-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I grew up in the Caribbean (Trinidad) drinking coconut water often. As a kid we'd look forward to going for a walk around the park where pickup trucks would be parked loaded with coconuts sitting on ice. They'd slice off the top for you and give you a straw. I now live in the US and thought I'd never taste that again. That is... until I stumbled across A&B Coconut juice with pulp.
Let me tell you... I've had all kinds of coconut juice in cans from the grocery store and online. None of them ever really tasted like the real deal, but it was close enough to make me buy more every once in a while.
BUT, A&B coconut juice with pulp IS the real deal people. I swear the first time I opened a can, I stopped, looked at the can and said "OMG! This tastes like a real coconut!" Needless to say, I was hooked. Got my fiance hooked. Told him we need a separate A&B line item in the budget now.
There's nothing like a cold A&B coconut juice with pulp after a workout in the morning. Or with lunch.... or winding down for the night. Hey, what can I say, I'm addicted.
A&B, if you ever change the taste of this thing, I'll hunt you down! LOL! And folks, if you're looking for the real deal in coconut water (with NO sugar added!), I promise you THIS IS IT. And I grew up in the Caribbean so I know when I hit the jackpot with the real coconut water taste.
Now I do have to say that the one without pulp did not taste as much like a real coconut as the one with pulp did. So get the one with pulp. Caution - you may just get hooked. Look for space in your budget to accommodate this new (and very healthy!!) habit.
By the way, do an internet search for the nutritional value and benefits of coconut water. You won't be disappointed. And to have it taste THIS good? Wow! I'd bet if you did a taste test between this and coconut juice straight out of a coconut, you won't be able to tell the difference. I'm telling you, it's THAT good.
I don't know how you pulled this off in a can A&B but THANK YOU!!

Hint Premium Essence Water, Pear, 16-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 12) Review

Hint Premium Essence Water, Pear, 16-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 12)
Average Reviews:

I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up this drink but I was pleasantly surprised. It's a nice still water with a natural pear flavor. The latter was key because I was worried it might taste artificial or off, but instead it tasted crisp and true to life. It's worth noting that the flavor is subtle. It actually didn't hit me when I first took a sip but lingered in my mouth after I'd finished the beverage. It is definitely much more subtle than a juice or flavored seltzer water, but is enough to add interest and variety for those who don't drink enough water when it's plain. I also love that there are no calories, caffeine or other artificial ingredients making it the perfect guilt-free drink.
Overall, it's delicious. If you're expecting a strong, juice-like flavor you'll probably be disapointed, but if you're looking for a light, clean flavor that is more interesting than water this is a great choice.

I LOVE Hint waters. There are some flavors that are definately better than the others but Watermelon is one of my favorites. It has no artificial sweetners or chemicals. It doesn't have any nasty aftertaste and is so refreshing! I find it hard to drink plain water and with Hint, it gives it just that, a Hint of sweetness and makes it super easy to drink alot of water! How I wish some grocery stores or Club Warehouse stores would carry it!!!!!!!

Craving a healthy, delicious all-natural boost? Take a hydration vacation from sugary sodas and sports drinks with Vita Coco 100% Pure Coconut Water with Acai and Pomegranate. (No bikini required!) Made with the pure coconut water taken from young, green coconuts harvested in the north of Brazil, and naturally full of potassium and four other essential electrolytes to enhance the hydration process, this fresh, clean-tasting beverage will help replenish your body as it quenches your thirst.
The Beauty of One Ingredient: Coconut Water Vita Coco is about hydration, and hydration is important no matter what you do. So while other beverages claim to be the before-, during-, and after-sports hydrator, Vita Coco is the hydrator made without added sugars, artificial sweeteners, or pick-me-ups.
In fact, the beauty of Vita Coco is that it's made with 100% pure coconut water from young, green Brazilian coconuts. (Okay, so in this case we also added a touch of 100%-pure açaí and pomegranate for a refreshing splash of flavor.)
The coconuts that are used to make Vita Coco drinks are young, green coconuts -- each one cracked by hand -- from northern Brazil that have an average age of about seven months, which is the best age to extract coconut water because it's still fat-free.
Hydrate Naturally with Five Essential Electrolytes Sure, you may not be a marathon runner, a football player or Tour de France winner, but your every day life is hectic enough--you should be hydrated while you live it. Go ahead, get hydrated and remember that life is a sport! Loaded with the five essential electrolytes that your body craves -- including potassium, sodium, magnesium, calcium and phosphorous -- Vita Coco has what it takes to keep you hydrated and refreshed throughout your busy day.
In fact, each serving of Vita Coco has more electrolytes and 15 times more potassium than the leading sports drink, and more potassium than two bananas (about 700 mg of potassium is in each 11.2-ounce serving size). These electrolytes work to keep the body cool, help boost poor circulation, replenish your body's fluids after exercising, and aid in the detoxification process while boosting your immune system.
This cholesterol- free, fat- free and pucker-free drink can also help soothe an upset stomach, and when paired with a healthy diet, it can even promote weight loss. All this from a single, natural ingredient, and without any artificial sweeteners or added sugars.
Açaí and Pomegranate: Rich in Antioxidants Listen up! Most people may think that free is good. Sure, if it's free food, free money or free shoes. But free radicals are bad: they cause wear and tear on cells. Who wants that? That's why pomegranate and açaí have joined forces to provide you with a coconut water rich in antioxidants. Think of it as a little superhero kicking one free radical butt at a time. So hydrate yourself, and go back to mooching free wi-fi from your neighbor.
Resealable Bottle for a Hydration Throughout the Day For when you want a little Vita Coco now, and a little later, this 500-millileter (17-ounce) resealable container is the perfect choice. With its convenient, resealable cap, you can sip some Vita Coco when you need it, seal it back up, and continue to enjoy its refreshing taste and benefits later.

ZICO Pure Premium Coconut Water, Lima Citron Flavor, 14-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 12) Review

ZICO Pure Premium Coconut Water, Lima Citron Flavor, 14-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 12)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I used to buy Zico in the tetrapacks. Our favorites were the mango and passion fruit, which were delicious. Then the tetrapacks disappeared from the local grocery store, and a few weeks later this new Zico showed up in plastic bottles with new "Lima Citron" and "Pomberry" flavor.
I bought a few, hoping they would match up to the old flavors. But, alas, they do not. In fact, the Lima Citron and Pomberry flavors are downright disgusting.
My fiance had the Pomberry flavor. He had the flu and wanted to rehydrate (which coconut water is excellent for). His sense of taste was not in full capacity because he was sick, but he commented to me that it just tasted wrong, and he wasn't sure if it was because he was sick or if it was the drink itself. I tried it myself, and sure enough it was the drink. It's gross.
Then I tried the Lima Citron flavor. I took a few sips, thinking maybe it would grow on me, and it did not. I threw away most of it. The flavor is like a mixture of pure lime juice and alum -- extremely bitter, sour, and astringent, as if the manufacture put in extra tannins. It reminded me of the time I bought an unripened persimmon from the Asian grocer, and after biting into it felt my mouth go instantly dry and pucker up. Don't get me wrong -- I can tolerate sour things. I can eat an entire lemon or lime and enjoy it. But this was unbearable.
The only palatable flavor is the "Natural" flavor, which is just coconut water. The other two -- nasty, NaStY, NASTY!
Buy VitaCoco instead.

My husband and I have tasted all of the other brands of coconut water and thought Zico was by far, the best. Unfortunately, things have changed. They have new packaging and new flavors. For whatever reason, even the plain coconut water tastes different and not as good as the original. The Pomberry is terrible and almost undrinkable (tastes extremely artificial). The Lima Citron is ok, but not that enjoyable. I really miss the old Zico and the old flavors. Sadly, I will definitely be moving onto another brand. :o(

I love PURE coconut water. This is FAR from pure. Used to be pure, but now "from concentrate". Ill stick to Vita Coco.
Ever since the Coca Cola company invested in this brand, it has been downhill for zilco. Aside from going to concentrate its also in a plastic environmental unfriendly bottle. Miss the tetra pak recyclable fresh coconut water.
Finally, I should note that the only reason I even looked at the ingredients is because I thought the "coconut water" was rancid because it tasted like the milk that's left over after a bowl of frosted flakes. Yuck!
If anybody has any suggestions for what I can do with the other 11 bottles I have left over, please let me know! As long as it doesnt have to be consumed by any other human-being..

Amy & Brian Natural Coconut Juice Pulp Free, 17.5 Ounce Tins (Pack of 12) Review

Amy and Brian Natural Coconut Juice Pulp Free, 17.5 Ounce Tins (Pack of 12)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Please read my update at the end of this original review:
I've been sampling various amazon-available coconut wataers since my previous beloved Zico went nasty (from concentrate, sour, sodium enhanced, yuck). I've had and enjoyed O.N.E. in the tetra pak and Nature Factor's organic in a can. I've had and not liked as much VitaCoco. Previously, I had tried supermarket brands like Goya and Conchita. I'm always willing to try coconut water, looking for good price and great taste. I decided to try Amy & Brian's cause I learned about them from googling "coconut water taste tests" due to wanting to see what others thought of the brands out there. One taste test comparison mentioned this one tasted most like the actual coconut that was used in the taste test for comparison. Another taste test gave A&B props, too. So, yeah, got my attention.
This one is now my new fave. Second fave is Nature Factor's organic one. After that O.N.E.
I can say this to coconu water lovers: those above are definitely worth trying to see if you enjoy them, too, before you decide on a permanent subscription. I'm gonna order some more A&B CW very soon (I have 2.5 cases of Nature Factor's, and about 4 tetras left of the O.N.E., and I will drink those. I have 35 bottles left of the Zico (new formula) and I may just water my gardenia and hibiscus bushes with those.)
What makes this one a bit different than the good brands I've named:
Big can: 17.5 ounces. If you're really thirsty, this one is welcome. (I often drink two 10 ounce cans of Nature Factor's brand during supper, so having one can do the trick is handy).
Sweeter: Maybe it's where they get their coconuts from, but this brand has a delicious sweetness that is lacking on ONE, VitaCoco, Zico (old and new), and Harvest Bay. Nature Factor's is a bit sweeter than the previous, but Amy and Brian beats them all. I like sweet. :D Because another reviewer called it "unnaturally sweet", I emailed Amy & Brian via their website to ask if this is from concentrate or has sugar added or manipulated. I was told it's juice as it came from the coconuts, not from concentrate, no sugar added. So, I'm content.
Some facts:
8 oz = 76 calories
This is more than ounce per ounce for other brands, but this is probably explained by the sweetness (meaning more natural carbs). Worth noting for those who are on low-carb/carb-conscious diets. For the rest, it just means MORE FLAVOR.
I wish Amy & Brian would put the potassium count on the label, though. This matters to a lot of us, including those who need to watch K intake due to drugs that spare potassium or folks who have high blood pressure and want to see how much K in their diet controls it. To the manufacturer: PLEASE add potassium to labeling under the sodium. Thanks.
I love, love that amazon offers this on subcribe and save. Makes life easier. Thank you, Amazon, for this wonderful addition to your S&S coconut water offerings.
Enjoy and be healthy!
Update: I emailed Amy & Brian after I posted this review, and lo and behold, they will be adding Potassium and Magnesium to their labels. FYI, here are the counts:
Potassium: whole can: 780, 8 oz serving: 360
Magnesium: whole can: 31.2, 8 oz servinng: 14.4
A&B is "flash pasteurized", which is the same pasteurization used for the tetra paks, as I understand it, so the nutrients should be comparable. They heat their at a lower temp than, say, Zico's, but for a bit longer. If you google "Crossfit Adventure" and this coconut water brand name, you'll see the article about the specifics: A&B heats their juice to 160-165 degrees for 15-20 seconds so that the nutrient content is undiminished. Also, the can is not BPA - it is Aqualure 900~19%. The other brand I liked the taste of, Nature Factor, does heat up their CW to a very high degree, so that one may be of concern nutrients-wise. Not A&B.
They use Thai coconuts. :)
Addendum: For carb watchers-- The carb count for A&B is roughly twice that of others. I used the brands I had at hand at home (and a calculator) to save you time making comparisons. The number stands for carbs per ounce:
Amy & Brian: 2.375
Nature Factor Organic: 1.6
O.N.E.: 1.33
New Zico (from concentrate): 1.07
I think Old Zico was more like ONE in terms of carbs per ounce.
I wonder if, since the selection of coconuts can give higher sodium (see new Zico's much higher sodium count), then can the selection also be targeted to have higher carbs/more sweetness?

UPDATE: WHOA! Talk about variety. I have to say that my second order of Amy & Brian's is not as nice-tasting as the first. My first batch was really delicious and natural tasting. The second order in the 10 oz cans tastes like candy-water. Seriously, it has an unnaturally sweet, unusual flavor. It's still not as offputting as the sour/cereal taste of the bottled Zico, but it's not something I'd recommend. So, a warning--you might get a great batch or a not so great one. But I thought you needed to know that flavor is not consistent (and it wasn't with original Zico, the one I used to drink the most, as coconuts will differ, coconut from coconut, therefore coconut water will have certain inconsistencies unless it's "jiggered" for consistency.) I hope, if you ordered, your batch is wonderful. But I am reconsidering my subscription, cause this variation is just a bit too disparate (a little change is fine, but from amazing to odd-sugary-candy-water will not do.) I have to amend my rating to three stars. Hope the update helps you in making a decision.
Update July 12, 2010: Yes, I ordered two more cases of large cans of this brand in the pulp version, and it's fantastic. So, it seems the "badness" is limited (so far as I can tell) to the smaller cans. I'm editing the header of this review accordingly. Every single large can/case I've ordered has been delicious and refreshing and coconutty. The small cans are candy water and suck. So, AVOID THE SMALL cans until that problem is resolved. But I trust the taste of the large cans to have placed an order for 7 cases during this month's super sale of A&B. HTH.

I just got back from Thailand, and I think I drank at least one coconut per day. Upon my return I wanted to find something that compared to the original (it's hard to keep coconuts in the fridge!) I thought Zico was ok, but it tasted watered down and nothing like the Thai Coconuts I was used to. I tried Amy and Brian's on a whim at whole foods and fell in love. It's naturally sweet, so flavorful, and I love the pulp's texture. I was hooked. Finding it here at an amazing price was the kicker. I saved SO much money, which is good because I didn't think I could afford my new addiction. Thanks for the fast, free shipping!!
