This is the real deal. Truly raw coconut oil and processed without heat or that nasty fermentation process. This product does have the light fragrant aroma and taste of fresh coconuts so if you don't like the taste or fragrance of coconuts then you've been warned.
Here is an excerpt from Aloha Nu's website regarding their coconut oil:
"Aloha Nu TM Extra Virgin Coconut Oil has a delicious, delicate coconut aroma and flavor. It's so good you can eat it by the spoon.
It's almost like eating fresh coconut cream, but without the sugar. Aloha Nu TM Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is a premium quality oil. This is evidenced by its appearance, aroma, and flavor.
How do you tell a premium quality coconut oil from the rest? The highest quality coconut oils are a pure white when solid (below 76 degrees F) and crystal clear when liquid (above 76 degrees F). This is what you get with Aloha Nu TM Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.
Lower-quality oils are made from sun-dried coconut (copra) that is often contaminated with mold and bacteria. This type of oil may be slightly yellow or gray. The discoloration is caused by residual contaminants in the oil.
All virgin coconut oils are made from fresh coconuts, never from copra. Most virgin oils are cold pressed but in further processing require added heat to remove residual moisture. If the moisture is not removed the oil will have a very limited shelf life (less than 3-6 months).
This heating process gives the oil a roasted or smoky flavor you notice with many brands and which many people find disagreeable. Although some people will claim that their oil is 'cold pressed' or even raw, you can tell if heat has been used in processing by the flavor.
Our Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is truly 100% raw. The word 'Extra' is used to signify that the oil is completely raw. No heat has been used in any stage of processing. Aloha Nu TM Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is not made from dried coconut but from fresh, rich coconut cream. Coconut oil is separated from the cream using a centrifuge with no added heat. The highest temperature the oil sees is 104 degrees F. This is well below the heat living and growing coconuts experience on the trees in the hot tropical sun. Consequently, all the nutrients, such as vitamin E, remain in the oil. This is a living oil full of nutrition, the way nature made it. This is why our oil retains a delicate coconut aroma and flavor, without the roasted taste.
Not all virgin coconut oils are of the same quality. How do you tell them apart? As the old saying goes: the proof is in the pudding. Take the taste test and see for yourself. You will agree that Aloha Nu TM Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is the highest quality, best tasting coconut oil on the market."
This coconut oil tastes light, smells heavenly and you can eat it straight from the jar without getting a sick tummy. This coconut oil is also great for your skin and it sinks right in without feeling greasy. I've tried 6 brands of virgin coconut oil and this is the best except for one other coconut oil I've tried which is maybe just one teensy half star tastier [but more expensive once you add shipping costs]. If I want a virgin coconut oil for cooking then I use Nutiva but when I want a truly RAW coconut oil for eating or 'buttering' my toast and whatnot then I use Aloha Nu.
The coconut oil that just barely rivals Aloha Nu is from LivingTreeCommunity but it's so subtle that I will stick with Aloha Nu.
Also, if you want to make a pretty 'butter' out of this coconut oil, let it get room temperature, then add a little good quality sea salt, a few sprinkles of organic turmeric powder [pretty color and good for you] and blend with a whisk and voila!
