Virgin Palm Oil is palm oil that is traditionally made and maintains the natural nutrients of carotenes (precursors to Vitamin A) and the antioxidant tocotrienols (Vitamin E). Typical RBD (Refined, Bleached, and Deodorized) palm oil has these nutrients stripped from them resulting in a clear oil. In its natural state, palm oil is red in color due to a high concentration of carotenes and tocols. Palm oil comes from a tropical palm tree (elaeis guineensis - NOT the same as coconut palm trees), which is native to the tropical areas of Africa, where it grows wild. It is a traditional oil used for more than 5000 years in African countries, where small-scale family farms flourish. The palm oil palm was introduced to South East Asia in the early 1900s, and Malaysia is now the world leader in exports of palm oil (Tropical Traditions does NOT source palm oil from there.) It was very hard finding a deodorant without anti-perspirant. I had my lymph nodes removed from under my arms and tropical traditions was a god send. I was even told by someone in the know at Rite Aid to use powder. So,if you have or had breast cancer and your nodes were removed from under your arms use Tropical Traditions Organic Virgin Coconut Oil Aluminum-free deodorant.

You can eat it right out of the jar, put it in smoothies, spread it on toast, put it on veggies instead of butter, make frosting, put it in your curry, mix it up in raw food bars--perfect for kids' breakfasts or lunch boxes...there are so many things you can do with this stuff. It's the perfect food.
I love coconut in any form, so I am going to be partial to this. But I've tried other coconut butters and this is the best I've had. This is not to be confused with coconut oil, it's thick, fibrous and has a sweet flavor and you don't cook with it like you do the oil. Coconut oil is great too, but I would not eat it with a spoon.

I bought this oil because I have a parrot with a feather plucking problem. I've been adding about half a teaspoonful daily to her soft food for about 3 months and the results are terrific. She's almost back to full feather and has not plucked a single pinfeather since we began adding it.
This is a logical solution. Palm nuts are a part of most parrot's natural diet. It only makes sense that red palm oil contains nutrients that are otherwise missing in a caged bird's diet.
Your mileage may vary since feather plucking is a complex mystery, but in my case it's been a miracle cure for our cantankerous eclectus.

I bought this bar because I wanted an easy, organic way to wash my hair plus I heard that coconut oil is good for the scalp. Also the 5 star review helped. When the package came, it came in a huge box that I only recognized it because it had the company's name on it. The package had about a pound of stuffing/cushioning and it's a bar of soap 3inches long by 1inch wide! Seems picky but I'm buying the product for it's ecofriendly attributes and it's shipping seems to have negated that by its wasteful packaging and what ever increase in fuel usage if they had just shipped it in a bubble package or an envelope.
The product itself was horrendous. I take pride in my long hair and moisturize it and take gentle care of it - within one use the bar complete stripped my hair of moisture. I knew something was wrong when I rinsed the product off my hair, my hair stuck to itself, got knotted easily and seemed brittle while still in the shower. So I tried to condition my hair to help - didn't help. I had a hard time combing my hair after the shower and my hair seemed ridiculously brittle even after a full deep conditioning. When my hair dried, it lost its luster (usually associated with properly moisturized hair). And to top off this bad experience my fiance said the shampoo made my hair smell like a mushroom.
I don't know about you, but I don't like smelling of mushrooms. It has seriously taken weeks of conditioning to get my hair back to normal, seems extreme but this bar really did damage to my hair. I had to throw away the bar after two uses.
